The Style Sheets Palette

The concept of style sheets is explored in more detail in the Layout Section. Style Sheets are like preset groups of styling instructions that can be applied to individual paragraphs. By accessing Style Sheets under the edit menu, you can specify parameters for Fonts, Spacing, Indents etc.

Another neat feature of style sheets is the ability to assign a function key to each style. By selecting an area of text, it is possible to apply that style sheet, to an entire document if required, just by hitting that function key.

The Trap Palette

Trapping is a process whereby you safeguard against gaps or white spaces showing up in the final printed output - this can be caused by a slight movement of the paper as printing takes place. To prevent this, Xpress allows a number of options where you can Overprint two colours just along their borders so that if the paper does move, the space is filled with the Colour Trap. Confused?, don't worry, trapping can seem like one of those black arts left over from the 19th century. Your Printer or Service Bureau should be able to advise you if particular trapping values are needed for any given job.
