The Colours Palette

The Colours Palette allows you to apply a vast range of colours to Backgrounds, Contents and Frames. Pay particular attention to the three little icons at the top of this palette. The Icon to the left indicates colour to be applied to a frame. The icon in the middle, colour to be applied to text (or graphics) and the icon to the right (highlighted), colour to be applied to the background.

You can add colours of your choice by accessing Colours under the Edit Menu. Here you can either choose colours from the colour wheel, enter precise values or choose a custom colour from one of the systems supported - you can see a Pantone Colour chosen in this example. The percentage icon lets you specify the degree of tint for any colour and as a further refinement, you are able to specify different gradients between two colours.

The Document Layout Palette

The Document Layout Palette shows you a thumbnail representation of your document page by page. You can use this to add, delete and move pages simply by dragging the icons around. This palette is also used for assigning Master Pages. Master Pages are one the most powerful features of Xpress and are treated in more detail in the Layout Section
